AZ Screen Recorder Is A Non-Root Lollipop Screen Capture App

One of the nicest little surprises lurking in Android 5.0 is the support for native on-device screen recording. The ADB screen recorder was added in KitKat, but now we can finally do it without a cable. Apps are still being updated with support, but AZ Screen Recorder is a new listing that seems to hit all the high points, and it's free.
1 2 3
When you start AZ Screen Recorder, it pulls up a floating recording panel that can be used to start a session, see recent recordings, access settings, and exit. In the settings you've got a good selection of features. This app can toggle show touches, has different resolutions, various bitrates, and records audio from the mic. You can end a recording at a set time (no limits) or by putting the screen to sleep. The developer is also working on a countdown option for starting recordings, though the floating panel makes that less necessary.
AZ Screen Recorder has an optional floating playback button in the corner of the screen that can be used to pause and end recordings. It shows up on the final video, though, so you may want to rely on the other methods above. Still, that's a cool option if you don't mind the little red dot. Those options are also in the notification shade during a recording, but then you have to open it at the end of your video.
This is all free and there's no watermark on the video (unlike SCR Free). The developers might add some paid features in the future like trimming clips and recording only a small area of the screen.

Need For Speed No Limits for Android and iOS

Firemonkeys, the makers of Real Racing 3, has announced Need For Speed No Limits for iOS and Android. The next entry in the fabled Need For Speed racing series is slated for a 2015 release.

In a blog post announcing the news, Robert Huebner, Executive Producer, Firemonkeys, wrote, "We've built No Limits from the ground up to deliver the insanely-fast driving and incredible graphics that fans have come to expect from Need for Speed - all in the palm of your hand."

"The team at Firemonkeys has also been bringing Need for Speed to mobile gamers for years, and it's an honor and a privilege to once again get behind the wheel of this incredible franchise and redefine street racing on mobile," he continued. "We're constantly amazed by the power and performance we're able to get out of the latest phones and tablets and think you will be too."

With the status of the next console and PC edition in the Need For Speed series unknown, going mobile first might be just the shot in the arm the series needs - even more so in emerging markets such as India where the Need For Speed series has seen great success in the past and where mobile gaming is largely prevalent over console and PC gaming.

Facebook Groups app launches on iOS and Android

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has long talked about Facebook Groups being the
next big point for innovation within the company. It looks like that time comes today,
as Facebook Creative Labs announced a new app for iOS and Android users,
Facebook Groups.

With the Facebook Groups app, users can see and post in their groups, as well as
easily create new groups.

Facebook Product Manager Shirley Sun described the app in a blog post:

People use Facebook Groups every day to stay in touch with family, collaborate on
projects, plan trips and offer support to friends.

Today, we’re introducing a new Facebook Groups app that helps people share faster
and more easily with all the groups in their life. We built this app with the people who
use Groups the most in mind, like:

Students from Donda’s House, an arts nonprofit in Chicago, who use groups to stay
in touch during and after a 12-week music program

A class of dental students in Brazil who use a group to post notes and reminders
about upcoming tests and due dates

Nine best friends spread out across Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and
England who use a group to keep connected

When you open the Facebook Groups app, the groups you interact with the most
show up first on the screen. The interface is reminiscent of Facebook Messenger.
